2016 is the EAUC’s 20th year of operation. From starting out as a voluntary organisation in 1996, we have grown to help over 5500 individuals to drive sustainability to the heart of their tertiary education institutions.
We are proud of our successes over the past 20 years and want to ensure that we are in the best possible position to support our members for the next 20 years and beyond. This is why in 2016, the EAUC will complete a full strategic review, encompassing all areas of our work and business.
Since our last strategy was developed for 2013-17, the external environment and sector have changed significantly and continues to do so. As a member led organisation, it is imperative that we review our vision and strategic direction to ensure that we are meeting the changing needs of our membership. We are starting this process a year before our current strategy expires in order to ensure that there is ample time to consult with members on the EAUC’s long term aspirations and vision.
Scope and management of the review
As well as deciding our key priorities for the next three years, the review will look to the future of the organisation to 2030. This is an open and transparent review and we will work with Caplor Horizons, who have been commissioned to assist with the review, to develop a new strategy built on the feedback we receive as part of this process. Calpor Horizons are a charity that specialises in helping other charities with leadership and strategy.
A dedicated Strategy Working Group, comprising representatives of the Member Advisory Council (MAC), Board and staff, will design and steer the review process. We will improve and adjust the process as we go along to take into account learning and feedback. We want to ensure we make the very best of this important opportunity.
Opportunities for you to be heard
All aspects of the organisation and our work will be open for discussion and we encourage members to engage with every aspect of this review. Member and wider stakeholder feedback will be what this process is built upon and there are a number of ways for you to engage:
- We will be seeking insight from Members at the AGM on 25 May 2016. Click here to book.
- A survey of all EAUC members and selected wider stakeholders
- Caplor Horizons will carry out interviews with stakeholders, including up to 10% of our membership base. A wide cross section of views will be sought.
- Wider stakeholder representatives will be interviewed by Caplor Horizons to gain an external perspective.
- Members and stakeholders will be asked to feedback on the proposals in a second round of consultation.
We will keep you up to date on the process and timetable of the review via regular communications and a dedicated strategic review page on the EAUC website.
This is an important year for the EAUC. Our sector and the world we operate in have changed a great deal in the 20 years that the EAUC has existed. We need to look forward and ask what will sustainability look like in 2030 and what shape the EAUC must take to effectively support our members. Your voice is central to this strategic review so please ensure it is heard.
Contact us if you have any questions about the process.
We look forward to working with you throughout the year.
Kind regards
EAUC
