AUE Conference 2012
Conference 2012 - Keele University
AUE 42nd Annual Conference Keele 2012
A record number of delegates enjoyed an excellent conference at Keele University in September 2012, for which the theme was ‘Engineering a Low Carbon Estate’.
The programme included a range of interesting presentations (see below for details) and plenty of opportunity to discuss products and services with the 39 exhibitors who supported the event and to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks.
A new initative this year was the introduction of collecting buckets for a local charity, the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, and we are pleased to report that a total of £800 has been sent to them from these, the sale of a goalkeepers shirt signed by Gordon Banks and a donation from conference funds. Click here to read their letters of thanks.
The Gala Dinner was held at the historic Keele Hall, and guests were entertained by Gordon Banks OBE, part of the 1966 Football World Cup winning team, who reminisced about his early career and the people he has met.
The Tom Bradley Award was presented to Russell Smith and Hilary Pape of Bradford University for their presentation on The EMU Project, and our latest apprentice to win the Harland Roberts Award was Tom Price from Newcastle, who attended the dinner to receive his prize. Our congratulations to all of them.
Please go to the Members' Area for details of the post-conference "wash-up" meeting.
Here is a selection of the photos taken at the conference.
The conference dinner on the Thursday evening was held in the grandeur of Keele Hall, which is a 19th century Grade 2 listed mansion situated on the University Campus. The guest speaker was Gordon Banks OBE, who features in a number of the photos above.
Many thanks to our conference sponsors and exhibitors, without whose support the conference could not take place.
